Just a shout to a childhood favorite
Sees Candy's been doin' it, and doin' it well, for decades.
Sees Candy has been a favorite of mine since I was 10 years old. The first time I discovered Sees Candy was the day the Meadows Mall opened. My friend and I hiked over there on opening day to see what was going on, and spend our allowance. The Meadows Mall was, in the eyes of this 5th grader, the only place to be on the weekends. You could hang out there all day, with five bucks, and we did. My friends and I were there almost every Saturday, until we were in high-school.
There were a handful of places in the mall that were regular stops for us, and the best was Sees Candy, by far. The lemonade stand had the 10 foot tall 'churning beauties,' and the toy store had all the free fun you could want, but the Sees Candy store had free samples of their wonderful confections, and that's all a ten year old needs to hear, especially me. See's candy were a popular treat in my home. I've enjoyed them since I could remember, and they've been bringing it since way before it was vogue.
I'm almost forty-four years old now, and no matter how many chocolate makers come my way with exotic flavors, and rare ingredients, my first and only choice for bringing the gift of candy, and chocolate, is always Sees Candy. You can bet I will be getting all of my wife's and daughter's Valentine's candy there. I look forward to visiting Sees when the holidays roll around. The place hasn't changed a bit, and the sense of nostalgia that I feel there is overwhelming. I would love to hear about your favorite childhood memories with Sees Candy. I know everyone must have at least one. Happy Valentine's Day, readers. lvfrankg ONE LOVE > OUR LOVE
