If you've read any of the cocktail recipes on this blog you know I have an affinity towards cool and interesting glassware. There is a garage sale two times a year in my neighborhood, and I'm always looking for interesting and antique glassware. I haven't found any good antique glassware pieces yet, but I definitely have gotten some great deals on some pretty cool glassware. These Hamm's mini beer glasses cost me .25 ea., the 7-up 'uncola' glasses only .50 ea. I'm a garage sale glassware shark.
As much as I love, and use, my glasssware, I hardly ever get the chance to show off my totally cool dishware. The main reason is because I don't want to bust them out for daily use, and I really don't have large sets for entertaining. They've been collecting dust for a couple years now. I have some pretty cool plates, but there should be more in the collection. I would definitely like to get my hands on some unique soup bowls, with spring right around the corner. This recipe for white bean and rosemary soup that follows, would look great in a cool soup bowl.
Speaking of making soup, one thing that I have found invaluable when I want to add real depth of flavor, and heartiness to my soups is a vegetable grinder, they're awesome for making cream soups, and they can be used for a ton of different things, too. Fruits, meats, anything really. Some of them come with interchangeable blades for different textures. They are definitely useful to have around. My grinder, and my mandolin are my sweetheart kitchen tools.
I am hoping readers will point me in the right direction to cool glassware, and dishware. If you know of any cool places to buy unique, or antique glassware, I would love to hear about it. Please leave your recommendations in the comments section. Also, if you have any great pictures of glassware that you would like to share, just hop over to BluntDinerz facebook page, load the photo, and tag yourself. I will share all of them in a blog post. My wife has been looking for an antique wall mounted plate holder, if you know where to find any, let me know about that too.
