Las Vegas hotels have put great effort in to recruiting awesome talent, and the following three celebrity chefs in Las Vegas solidify that statement to the max.
The first Las Vegas chef I’d like to talk about is Susan Wolfla; she made history by becoming the first female Executive Chef of one of the most luxurious Las Vegas hotels, Mandalay Bay. Her résumé begins at the Canterbury Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana, and extends as far as the Bahamas, where she worked at the Atlantis Resort. Wolfa attended and graduated from The Culinary Institute of America. Wolfa started out as an executive sous chef in 2005, and she is now the executive chef. She oversees 7 restaurants at Mandalay Bay that offer everything from steak and seafood to eclectic menu creations, there is literally something for every taste.
Meet Tom Gorball, executive chef of the Luxor Hotel, one of the most popular of the Las Vegas hotels. At the young age of sixteen he started working at small casino kitchens, and by the time he was sixteen he was the chef of a large steak house. He continued working his way up, taking all sorts of jobs such as waiter, bartender, Maître d’, and eventually landed a job as an Assistant Chef of a small casino off of the Las Vegas Strip. He worked other jobs on the Las Vegas Strip as chef and sous, before he finally became the Executive Chef at the Luxor Hotel where he operates 10 different dining outlets and is responsible for serving over 18,000 meals per day. Even though he has no culinary schooling he is on the Program Advisory Committee for the Art Institute of Las Vegas International Culinary School.
Last not least, there is Chef Daniel Pfeiffer. He is the Executive Chef for Silverton Casino Hotel. The Silverton sits at the South end of the Las Vegas Strip, and is known as being one of the more laid back of the luxury Las Vegas hotels. Pfeiffer studied in Germany, France, and Sweden, where he learned to hone his artistic culinary skills. After completing his work in Sweden he ventured back to the United States where he became the Assistant Executive Chef at the Flamingo Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas. After a few years, he became the Executive Chef at the Palace Station and Boulder Station. He also has owned and operated two restaurants in Las Vegas, “Coffee, Coffee” and “Show me the Chicken”.
Whether glitz and glamour you crave or the delectable taste of restaurants, Las Vegas has it all. You’ll leave with a satisfied appetite, and some knowledge of our Las Vegas celebrity chef’s!
